Second Call for Papers
Computers & Operations Research
Special Issue on "Recent Advances in Location Analysis"
Guest Editors: Sibel A. Alumur, Bahar Y. Kara
The subjects of interest within location analysis are of many kinds,
centering on the optimal choice of locations for one or more facilities,
within any framework (the classical settings being discrete, network, and
planar) in a way that optimizes a certain objective such as minimizing
transportation costs, providing equitable service to customers, capturing
the largest market share, etc. Many other fields have direct connections
with location analysis, either by subject such as transportation and
routing, supply chain management, environmental studies, layout and design,
data and cluster analysis, or as techniques, like mathematical (linear,
integer, non-linear, convex, global, ...) programming, multi-criteria
analysis, approximation theory, computational geometry, statistics, etc.
Recently, there have been several new developments in location analysis. The
aim of this special issue is to collect high quality papers that address
recent advances in theory, practice and application. Potential topics
include, but are not limited to:
* network location,
* continuous location,
* discrete location,
* obnoxious location,
* competitive location,
* hub location,
* location-routing,
* location applications (logistics, network design),
* exact and heuristic solution methods.
Researchers from all relevant disciplines are invited to consider this
special issue as an outlet to publish their high quality work on the topic.
Submission Guidelines:
All manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the Elsevier
Editorial System (EES) <http://ees.elsevier.com/cor>
http://ees.elsevier.com/cor. Corresponding author must select Special Issue:
Recent Advances in Location Analysis as the Article Type to make sure that
the paper will be considered for the special issue.
Important Dates:
The deadline for submission to the special issue is October 1, 2013. The
plan is to publish the special issue in early 2015.

Dear locators,
We have a Ph.D position available at the Ecole des Mines de Nantes.
The goal of the research project is to build a decision aiding system to
solve supply chain network design and routing problems occurring in the
context of supply chain pooling.
This research is funded by the Ecole des Mines de Nantes (France) and
the company 4S Network.
After the withdrawal of a candidate, this offer is quite urgent, we
expect applications by July 25th.
Good skills in operations research and computing are required, as well
as practice of French language (this is why the PhD offer attached is
written in French!).
Thanks for forwarding this message to potential candidates,

Dear Prof. Plastria,
I would like to thank you for putting together regularly the list of
location related references. This makes our research incredibly easier.
We recently published a paper regarding a complex multi-period facility
location problem appearing in the Canadian forestry industry which you may
want to consider for one of the next reference lists:
http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10479-012-1278-z
Thanks again for your efforts and Best Regards,
Sanjay

* network location,
* continuous location,
* discrete location,
* obnoxious location,
* competitive location,
* hub location,
* location-routing,
* location applications (logistics, network design),
* exact and heuristic solution methods.
