Special Issue on "Recent Advances in Location Analysis"
Guest Editors: Sibel A. Alumur, Bahar Y. Kara
The subjects of interest within location analysis are of many kinds,
centering on the optimal choice of locations for one or more facilities,
within any framework (the classical settings being discrete, network, and
planar) in a way that optimizes a certain objective such as minimizing
transportation costs, providing equitable service to customers, capturing
the largest market share, etc. Many other fields have direct connections
with location analysis, either by subject such as transportation and
routing, supply chain management, environmental studies, layout and design,
data and cluster analysis, or as techniques, like mathematical (linear,
integer, non-linear, convex, global, ...) programming, multi-criteria
analysis, approximation theory, computational geometry, statistics, etc.
Recently, there have been several new developments in location analysis. The
aim of this special issue is to collect high quality papers that address
recent advances in theory, practice and application. Potential topics
include, but are not limited to:
* network location,
* continuous location,
* discrete location,
* obnoxious location,
* competitive location,
* hub location,
* location-routing,
* location applications (logistics, network design),
* exact and heuristic solution methods.
Researchers from all relevant disciplines are invited to consider this
special issue as an outlet to publish their high quality work on the topic.
Submission Guidelines:
All manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the Elsevier
Editorial System (EES) <http://ees.elsevier.com/cor>
http://ees.elsevier.com/cor. Corresponding author must select Special Issue:
Recent Advances in Location Analysis as the Article Type to make sure that
the paper will be considered for the special issue.
Important Dates:
The deadline for submission to the special issue is October 1, 2013. The
plan is to publish the special issue in early 2015.

Dear Locators,
Larry and I are organizing the SOLA cluster at this year's INFORMS annual conference, in Minneapolis on October 6-9, 2013. If you would like to chair a session (or submit a presentation), please let us know. The abstract submission deadline is May 15, but it would be good to start getting things lined up early so speakers have sufficient time to upload their abstracts.
More information about the INFORMS conference is at http://meetings2.informs.org/minneapolis2013/index.html. More information about SOLA is at https://www.informs.org/Community/SOLA.
We hope to hear from you soon.

======================================================================
The International Workshop on Locational Analysis and Related Problems - X Anniversary of the Spanish Location Network will take place during June 19-21, 2013 in Torremolinos, province of Málaga (Spain). It is organized by the Spanish Location Network, which is a group of more than 140 researchers distributed into 16 nodes corresponding to several Spanish universities. Every year, the Network organizes a meeting to promote the communication between its members and between them and other researchers, and to contribute to the development of the location field and related problems. The last workshop took place in Granada, May 10-12, 2012 (http://www.webs.ulpgc.es/locafin <http://www.webs.ulpgc.es/locafin> ). This year, the Network combines the organization of the annual Workshop with the celebration of its 10th anniversary, extending the call for papers to the scientific community.
The topics of interest are location analysis and related problems. It includes location models, networks, transportation, logistics, exact and heuristic solution methods, and computational geometry, among others.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to present works in the form of oral communications or poster.
