The *Open Journal of Mathematical Optimization* ( https://ojmo.centre-mersenne.org) is calling for papers. This newly established scholarly journal, provided on a Fair Open Access basis – without cost to both readers and authors, see below – welcomes original and high-quality articles dealing with every aspect of mathematical optimization, ranging from numerical and computational aspects to theoretical questions related to mathematical optimization problems. The topics covered by the journal are classified into four areas: * Continuous Optimization * Discrete Optimization * Optimization under Uncertainty * Computational aspects and applications The journal welcomes regular papers (no page limit) and short notes (no more than 8 pages). Social networks are simple models used to describe complex phenomena that emerge in various fields such as social sciences, digital communication platforms, economics, business, international relations, environmental sciences, and medicine. For example, social networks are used to model social interactions on web platforms such as Facebook or Twitter, the spreading of contagious illnesses, news and information, the mutual influence between voters during an electoral campaign, the adoption of new goods on the market, the correlation between purchases on e-commerce platforms, or the interaction between agents, bots and humans. In this special session we seek contributions where original soft computing techniques, for instance new bio-inspired or physics-inspired metaheuristics, are applied to solve specific social network problems or to define new social network models. Real-world experimental studies, as well as presentations of new datasets, or algorithmic studies on novel techniques tested on publicly available datasets and scalability studies are especially welcome. As announced during the International Network Optimization Conference 2019 held in Avignon, France, June 12-14, 2019, there will be a special issue of the Networks journal dedicated to the conference. We invite every participant to the conference to submit a full paper corresponding to his/her oral presentation. The deadline for the paper submission is September 15, 2019.
