Call for Proposals: 2020 Conference of the INFORMS Section on Telecommunications and Network Analytics

CALL FOR PROPOSALS The INFORMS Section on Telecommunications and Network Analytics is launching a call for proposals for its next conference to be held in 2020. The section provides a forum for exchanging experiences and ideas for innovative network planning and operations and management of networks. In addition, the section is broadening its area of expertise, by inviting researchers working on Network Analytics in a broader sense, to join the community and contribute to exchanging the ideas, know-how and experiences. The section organizes a conference every second year. In the tradition of the previous conferences, the 2020 conference will be focused on the theory and application of operations research and management science to problems in telecommunications and network analytics, with particular emphasis on new and emerging technologies. The list of previously organized conferences can be found here: https://connect.informs.org/telecommunications/conferences <https://connect.informs.org/telecommunications/conferences> Tentative dates for the conference: between February and May 2020, while avoiding overlaps with major scientific events with a related focus. Applicants who are interested in organizing the next conference should submit their proposal to the section chair Ivana Ljubic (ljubic(a)essec.edu <ljubic(a)essec.edu>) no later than January 20, 2019. The application should contain: - a description of the location and facilities used to organize the conference, - a list of members of the local organizing committee, - a detailed estimation of the budget of the conference, - a calendar of important dates, including a plan for advertisement of the conference. The Section does not take financial responsibility for a loss. Organizing committees are encouraged to keep this in mind and consider using university facilities for hosting the conference. NAVER LABS Europe's mission is to advance the state-of-the-art in Ambient Intelligence, while paving the way for these innovations into a number of NAVER flagship products and services. This includes research in models and algorithms to give humans faster and better access to data and to allow them to interact with technology in simpler and more natural ways. We are currently proposing a 18 months post-doc position in operational research to design and implement new algorithms for routing and rerouting in time-dependent and dynamic networks. Joining the Machine Learning and Optimization group, the successful candidate is expected to integrate his work in one or several NAVER products or services, as well as publish his work in international journals or conferences. 8th edition of the Winter School on Network Optimization (first announcement)

The 8th edition of the Winter School on Network Optimization will take place at Hotel Estoril-Éden, Monte Estoril, from the 15th to the 19th of January 2018. Its main objective is to provide an opportunity for PhD students to get together and attend high level courses in the field of Network Optimization. Non-PhD students are welcome to attend the school, but the number of participants is limited and priority will be given to PhD students. In this edition of the school, the lecturers and subjects to be addressed are: Adam Ouorou (Orange Labs) - Robust optimization in telecommunications; Martine Labbé (Univ. Libre de Bruxelles) - Bilevel programming: Stackelberg games and Pricing Problems; Ivana Ljubic (ESSEC, Paris) - Recent Developments on Exact Solvers for the (Prize-Collecting) Steiner Tree Problem; Silvano Martello (Univ. of Bologna) - Packing problems in one and more dimensions; Juan José Salazar-Gonzalez (Univ. de La Laguna) - Models and Algorithms for Vehicle Routing Problems with Pickups and Deliveries.
