??Dear Locators,
We would like to share EWGLA news with you under the following three topics: 1- EWGLA web site 2- EWGLA Coordination Board updates 3- EGWLA grants 2023
1- EWGLA web site
We are updating the EWGLA website (https://www.euro-online.org/websites/ewgla/) and eagerly hoping to receive valuable inputs from you. Particularly,
- A nice 'Location' graphic to replace the default banner on the home page. If you have ideas for the banner or maybe even already have figures from a presentation or a document that you prepared and can be published on our website without violating any copyright agreement, please let us know. - PhD thesis of yours or your students with a Location theme. Please send us the link to the open access repository (if a link is not possible, the pdf file unless there are copyright restrictions for publishing online) and we will add it to the "EWGLA Resources" page. - Please write us for any recommendations you might have about changes or additions to the web page.
The website also has a new "EWGLA Grants" page with the list of early career researchers supported to participate EWGLA and/or ISOLDE meetings.
The password for the password-protected pages is the city of the last EWGLA meeting (first letter capitalized).
2- EWGLA Coordination Board updates
The EWGLA board typically consists of three members from different countries and each member serves for a duration of four years. Exceptionally, the board has been coordinated by four members since the last meeting in Aveiro.
Bogi and Joerg have provided invaluable contributions and outstanding efforts since 2018 and 2015, respectively. Through this e-mail, we would like to already thank them both very much!
Regarding the announcement for a new board candidacy, we received one application from Dr. Diego Ponce (Universidad de Sevilla, IMUS). Therefore, we will seek for your approval of Diego as new board member during the EWGLA session in ISOLDE/EWGLA 2023 and we hope that many of you will be there.
3- EGWLA grants 2023
We are thrilled to announce the results of the first call of EWGLA Supports for local and topic-specific meetings which we introduced for the first time this year. We received a single application from The International Workshop on Locational Analysis and Related Problems IWOLOCA-2023, which will be supported with up to 1,000 Euros. We are looking forward to receiving more applications from you.
For participating the ISOLDE/EWGLA meeting this year, EWGLA will support four early career researchers among the seven applicants: Thomas Byrne (University of Strathclyde), Zehranaz Dönmez (Bilkent University), Ricardo Gázquez (University of Málaga), Shunee Johnn (University of Edinburgh). We thank all the applicants and wish a fruitful conference to all ISOLDE/EWGLA participants of this year!
All the best, Bogi, Carmen, Hatice, and Joerg
