Dear EWGLA members,
We would like to update you with some news regarding this year’s meeting, grants, awards, the EURO2025 Locational Analysis stream as well as the EWGLA social accounts and the next EWGLA meeting.

The 30th EWGLA meeting took place at the Jerez de la Frontera campus of the Universidad de Cádiz from 17 to 19 September. Carmen-Ana Domínguez Bravo and Luisa I. Martínez Merino chaired the organisation. This year, the meeting was celebrated jointly
with the 14th International Workshop on Locational Analysis and Related Problems (IWOLOCA).
The meeting hosted two EWGLA plenary talks by Prof. Burcu Balçýk and Prof. Anthony Papavasiliou and an IWOLOCA plenary by Prof. Vladimir Marianov, as well as 69 scientific talks, with 84 participants from 14 countries in attendance.

This year, the EWGLA board decided to support eight members for participation in EWGLA 30th. Unfortunately, only six of them could attend the conference and will receive the grants upon providing the reports required as part of the procedure. We congratulate
all the grantees and provide the list of those attending the EWGLA meeting below.

The next EWGLA meeting will be organised in Istanbul on 16-18 June 2027 by Necati Aras, Sibel Salman and Yavuz Günalay. Find more details in the attached presentation by the organisers.

The EWGLA board organised the Locational Analysis stream at the 34th EURO Conference, which took place in Leeds from 22 to 25 June. This successful stream hosted 15 talks, organised into four sessions that addressed recent advances and important challenges
in locational analysis. These sessions were well attended, with more than 25 participants in each, and hosted very engaging discussions. We would like to thank all participants for their contributions!

Several EWGLA members received awards and honours during the EURO conference, as listed below. Congratulations to our EWGLA members on their achievements.

Laureano Escudero was awarded the EURO Gold Medal, the highest distinction for OR.

Dolores Romero Morales was elected President-Elect and will become the new EURO president for 2027 - 2028.

EURO honoured its past presidents, including EWGLA members Laureano Escudero, Martine Labbe and Anita Schöbel, who were present on the stage in Leeds.

Ivana Ljubic’s research paper won the EURO Award for the Best EJOR Paper in the Review category.

Elisabeth Gaar’s research collaboration won the EURO Prize for OR for the Common Good.

Hannah Bakker’s PhD thesis was selected as a finalist for the EURO Doctoral Dissertation Award.

Serena Fugaro and Antonino Sgalambro’s joint research paper was selected as a finalist for the EURO Excellence in Practice Award.
