Dear all,
after Frank Plastria thankfully restarted his monthly column on location related references, he contacted Bogi and myself to see if we can make all the references he collected so far, as well as future ones, available to the community in a single place.
After a bit of searching and trialling, Bogi and myself settled on the online platform SciWheel, which is free to use.
We have uploaded all references Frank collected up to 2013 to SciWheel (over 2600). We have also added the ones from his monthly column up to now and will continue to do so in the future. Moreover, Frank was given access and permission to use Hale's bibliography and is currently reviewing it to fill in missing parts. Once this is done, we will also be able to upload those.
If you find that some of your own references are missing or incorrect, then you are very welcome to upload them yourself or fix them, respectively.
Apart from being free-to-use, another important feature for us was that SciWheel allows to add tags to references. While there is obviously a search function, it is not always easy to narrow down the search to specific "types" of topics. For example, myself being a (die-hard) fan of network location, finding all papers on those problems is not always easy. We have already created a handful of tags and every user can define new tags. While it will be difficult (or even impossible) to retrospectively assign such tags, we very much hope that we, as a community, can get this going for future references. Creating and adding tags is straight-forward, so please feel free to do so. The only thing we would ask is that you try not to define tags that are too specific, so that we do not to end up with too many of them. That would defy their purpose and also you cannot search over tags.
Finally, to get access to the database, we need to send you an invitation from within SciWheel to an email address of your choice (unfortunately, there is no self-enrolment option). If you want to be added, then please fill the form: https://forms.gle/5tGTU7ajbeHH7Pib7
Last, but most certainly not least, a very big thank you to Frank for restarting his column and allowing us to upload the references to SciWheel!
Best wishes, Bogi & Jörg
