As in previous EWGLA meeting, we  are pleased to announce that EWGLA is again offering a number of grants for participants.
These grants will cover your expenses up to a maximum of €750. Eligible expenses are costs for travel & accommodation and the conference fee.

To apply, you have to be a EWGLA member and should send the following documents as a single pdf by e-mail to the EWGLA Board (ewgla-board at euro-online.org):

- An extended abstract of at least two full pages,
- Your CV,
- A letter of recommendation from your supervisor, if you are a PhD student.

The deadline for applications is 31st January, 2019.
Decisions about grants will be made by 2nd March, 2018.

We especially encourage PhD students and young researchers (no more than 2 years after completing a PhD).
We would appreciate if you could forward this announcement to your PhD students in case they are not yet members of EWGLA and, of course, encourage them to become EWGLA members!
If you have questions about the application or the grant, please do not hesitate to contact us.

New web site and registration to EWGLA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The EWGLA web page has migrated the the new EURO website, on the space dedicated to working groups. .
https://www.euro-online.org/websites/ewgla/

As a consequence, the registration process to all EURO working groups will be centralized.
Current EWGLA members are invited to register again in order to access all informations on the EWGLA website (documents, datasets et).
Don't worry, even if you don't register immediately, you are still registered to the mailing list and will continue receiving the EWGLA e-mails.

However, we encourage new members to register to EWGLA through the EURO website.

  EWGLA coordination board
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the EWGLA session at EWGLA XXIV, we discussed the activity of our EURO Working Group.
The main point was the proposal for changing the rules of the coordination board.
Here are the rules that were adopted:

1.The board consists of three members from three different countries.
2.The mandate of a member starts and ends at a EWGLA meeting.
3.Each member serves for a span of 4 EWGLA meetings, excluding the one she or he came into office.
That is, the mandate of a member coming into office at a EWGLA meeting will end four meetings later.
4.Only one member at a time is replaced at every EWGLA meeting.

Following this rule, one new member will be elected in the coordination board this year, and his/her mandate will start during EWGLA XXV.
(According to the rules,  this person cannot come from Hungary nor UK).

Thus, we call for new volunteers to join the coordination board.
Candidates are required to send an email to ewgla-board@euro-online.org by May 5th, with their name, affiliation and a bulleted list of views and/or ideas about the future of EWGLA.

The list of candidates will be announced short after. If they are several candidates, registered EWGLA members will be asked to vote during the EWGLA meeting.
