About the Conference ISOLDE XVII will take place from June 21-25, 2026, at Loyola University in Downtown Chicago, IL. The conference, held every three years, involves scientists and practitioners, whose research interests deal with quantitative and qualitative methods for location theory, modeling and planning. All related areas of economics, engineering, geography, mathematics and operations research from both academic and business points of view are welcome to participate. Logistics Note ISOLDE conferences have been characterized by hosting the event in two different geographic locations. Based on survey feedback received from our community, we have decided to keep the conference in a single city. Many respondents indicated that cost is a major factor in their ability to attend, and hosting the second portion in a hotel would have significantly increased expenses. Despite the present uncertainties and huge financial risk involved in organizing the conference in its original form, we are still keeping up with the ISOLDE spirit by hosting the conference in two "locations" within the same city. The first and second half of the event will both be held in downtown Chicago, likely at a different facility or building. We will also provide a boat excursion in the middle of the conference. Hub location and network design at IFORS in Vienna

Dear friends and colleagues, Stefan Nickel and I are organizing a "Hub Location and Network Design" stream at the upcoming IFORS conference, which will be held July 12-17, 2026, in Vienna. I'm pasting our stream description below. If you would like to present, you can submit your abstract using the code 7d2ac1c7 or simply by writing to me. We will then organize the talks into sessions scheduled back-to-back, so that we can all participate together. Even if you do not present in Hub Location sessions, I hope you can still join us at the next IFORS conference. Contributions may include new mathematical models, solution algorithms, and empirical studies that address the selection and configuration of hub-and-spoke systems, the allocation of demand nodes to hubs, the design of interhub connections, and the integration of cost, service, sustainability, and uncertainty considerations in network design problems. Topics of interest span classical hub location formulations and multi-objective extensions, resilient and robust network designs under disruptions, multimodal and hierarchical hub configurations, and innovative optimization and heuristic methods that advance both theory and real-world applications in freight, passenger, and service networks. This prestigious, triennial award recognizes an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to location analysis research over the course of their career.
