Best wishes, Antonino ********************************************************************************************************** The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Research Centre at Sheffield University Management School is seeking applications for a fully funded PhD from exceptional UK/EU/International students with an outstanding academic record (distinction/high merit or equivalent), as well as a proven record in research training. *Project description* The PhD project is concerned with Locational Analysis, with particular emphasis on Advanced Network Design and Supply Chain Structural Complexity problems, and relevant applications in Production and Service Management. The aim is to introduce the impact of advanced modelling features/concepts (including k-splittable flows and structural complexity) in the field of facility location problems, thus exploring novel and promising research avenues. *How to apply* The deadline to apply is 1 July 2019 at 17:00 UK time. Please note that applications will not be processed if they are incomplete or received after the deadline. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview on Tuesday 13/Wednesday 14 August 2019. Applicants should submit a 1000 word research proposal which directly addresses the theme and/or specific topic to which they are applying. The proposal should contain a brief background to the topic, which demonstrates knowledge of existing work in the field, and potential contributions to knowledge. Call for Nominations for the Chuck ReVelle Rising Star Award in Location Science Deadline to apply: June 15, 2019 The Section on Location Analysis<https://connect.informs.org/sola/home> (SOLA) of INFORMS solicits nominations for the Chuck ReVelle Rising Star Award<https://connect.informs.org/sola/solaawards/new-item2>. This award is a biennial honor awarded to a person within eight years of receiving his or her Ph.D. who has made a significant contribution to location analysis research and displays the potential to continue to do so. The award is generally given every other year at the SOLA business meeting at the national INFORMS conference. The committee will consider all contributions to the field of locational analysis when choosing a winner of the award. While research will carry the most significant weight (and will be assessed using multiple dimensions--number and significance of papers, book chapters, presentations, etc.), contributions to teaching and service will be taken into account as well. The committee will also strongly consider the nominee's potential to continue to do research that has a significant impact on the field of locational analysis. The award does not carry a monetary prize but is regarded as an extremely high honor within the locational analysis community. In addition, the winner will be given a complimentary registration to the INFORMS conference in the year following the award. The award is named in honor of location analysis pioneer Charles ReVelle, who passed away in 2005. A nomination consists of a recent CV of the nominee and a nominating letter from the nominator that highlights the nominee's most relevant and significant accomplishments and discusses his or her potential to do research that has a significant impact on the field of locational analysis. In addition to the nomination letter and CV, electronic copies of up to (but no more than) three research papers should be submitted by the nominator. These papers should be either published, in the refereeing process, or being prepared for submission to an appropriate journal. Dear locators, This week we had a great EWGLA workshop in Brussels. Thanks again to Lieselot Vanhaverbeke and her wonderful organising team. Here are the next important dates : - The location stream @EURO 2019 in Dublin will have 9 sessions and 36 presentations. - The next joint ISOLDE / EWGLA meeting will be held next year in Hamburg and Timmerdorf Beach (June 14-19, 2020). - EWGLA 2021 will be organised in Aveiro (Portugal), by Rui Borges Lopes. The exact date will be communicated later. Finally, we have elected a new member in the EWGLA coordination board. Call for a new board member

Dear members, as you might recall, in the last meeting we agreed to change the rules about the duration of service on the EWGLA coordination board. This year, Olivier Péton will leave the board and we are looking for one volunteer to replace him. Due to the rules, the new board member cannot work in Hungary or the UK. We plan to announce the list of candidates on Friday, 31 May. If you are interested please send us a one page document where you state and promote your candidacy until Thursday, 30 May. If you have any questions about that please feel free to contact us. If there are several candidates, registered EWGLA members will be asked to vote before Friday, 7 June and the result will be announced during the EWGLA session in Brussels.
