Dear Colleagues, The aim of the IFORS Developing Countries Online Resources page is to offer the OR worker all publicly-available materials on the topic of OR for Development. It also aims to provide a venue for people who are working in the area to share their completed or in-process work, learn from others, and stimulate comments and discussions on the work. Regarding IFORS Developing Countries OR resources website, its regular updates - and your possible submission of "free" (not copyright protected) material, you might occasionally visit http://ifors.org/developing_countries/index.php?title=Main_Page. "Operational Research" (OR) is the discipline of applying advanced analytical methods to help make better decisions. By using techniques such as problem structuring methods and mathematical modelling to analyze complex situations, Operational Research gives executives the power to make more effective decisions and build more productive systems. The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS; http://ifors.org/) is an almost 60-year old organization which is currently composed of 51 national societies. Regional Groups of IFORS are: ALIO (The Latin American Ibero Association on Operations Research), APORS (The Association of Asian-Pacific Operational Research Societies), EURO (The Association of European Operational Research Societies), NORAM (The Association of North American Operations Research Societies). Bonjour Bernard, J'espère que tu as passé de bonnes vacances. Je reprend aussi (lentement avec les canicules que nous connaissons) le 'business' du groupe de travail laissé en suspens depuis Dublin. Lors de la réunion du groupe, on a parlé du website Ethics & OR qui a très peu de succès (2 inscrits à ce jour) - cela est dû sans doute d'après les quelques présents au peu de visibilité des sites EWG qu'on ne le trouve pas très facilement avec une recherche par mots clés car ce sont des sous-sites de euro-on-line.org _La question posée était: peut-on améliorer les choses en créant une adresse proxy plus directe qui serait trouvée en tête de liste par les moteurs de recherche?_ - l'inscription sur le site pour créer une mailing list à parir du site a donc complètement échoué (serpent qui se mord la queue), et tu avais en effet des doutes sur la qualité (et même les risques) du mailing de Desino. Alec Morton m'a aussi confirmé qu'il a encore fait plusieurs tentatives infructueuses de s'enregistrer. Il n'est sans doute pas très doué, mais tu devons trouver une autre solution plus efficace qu'une invitation par le site lui-même qui reste inconnu de la majorité des intéressés et donc sans aucun chance de gonfler notre effectif. _Je reprend donc le projet de mailing list que tu as créée en 2018 (adresse en Cc), mais elle est vide à part un inscrit, moi._ _Je sais qu'il faut satisfaire les règles de confidentialité et qu'il faut d'abord inviter les intéressés potentiels, mais peux-tu me rappeler comment créer ces invitations à partir d'un fichier d'adresse par exemple? _ J'ai dû recevoir ce mode d'emploi dans le passé, mais je le trouvais compliqué, peux-tu me renvoyer ces instructions (complétées évtl. pour les 'dummies') pour me permettre de démarrer quelque chose de plus substantiel. Nous cherchons actuellement un nouveau coordinateur - pour me remplacer et Dorien - et bien que j'ai déjà reçu des candidatures, un diffusion plus large du CfA serait utile, voire indispensable (j'avais demandé à Sarah de mettre ce point dans les News d'EURO mais je ne suis pas sûr que cela a été fait pendant les vacances, je n'ai rien vu). Le deadline est décembre et j'ai mis l'info sur le site mais sans grand succès comme déjà dit. Bonne fin d'été, Amitiés, Pierre

Hello Bernard, Our website is now progressing. Could you have a look at it in particular at 'About/Become a member' leading to the page: https://www.euro-online.org/websites/ethicsandor/register/ The proposed registration does not see to be useful if we cannot connect the list of registered EWG members to the mailing list Ethics-and-OR(a)euro-online.org you have created. (registration from the website only gives access to the 'Registered members zone' we have not yet defined regarding its usefulness and content) It would be an alternative and much easier - and more attractive - way to be registered on the mailing list at the same time becoming EWG member It is not clear from the Desino design who have set up our website on behalf of Euro if such a link is possible? How does work for other EWG with a website? I am first putting this question to you before contacting Desino if something could be changed in the website design to ease the task of setting up a list of members. I join Sarah and my colleague in the board Semih more knowledgeable than I am on websites. Thank you for your help.
