Dear Colleague, On Friday, September 12 2014, we will be hosting the workshop * Recent advances in multi-objective optimization * * moo.univie.ac.at * It will be a small, single-day, single-stream workshop focusing on recent advances in exact methods in multi-objective (mixed) integer optimization. Keynote talks will be given by Xavier Gandibleux and Matthias Ehrgott. We herewith invite you to participate in the workshop. The workshop venue is the new building of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics and the Faculty of Mathematics of the University in Vienna. The preliminary program is as follows: * Thursday, September 11, 18:00: Welcome reception. * Friday, September 12, 09:00 - 18:00: Scientific program. * Friday, September 12, 19:30: Conference dinner. The participation fee is 50 EUR and includes the conference dinner, free coffee/tea and soft drinks between sessions, and a light lunch. PhD students are entitled to a reduced fee of 30 EUR. NetOPt2015: 4th Winter School on Network Optimization (1st announcement) The 4th edition of the Winter School on Network Optimization will take place at the Hotel Sana, Estoril, from the 12th to the 16th of January 2015. Its main objective is to provide an opportunity for PhD students to get together and attend high level courses in the field of Network Optimization. Non-PhD students are welcome to attend the school, but the number of participants is limited and priority will be given to PhD students. In this edition of the school, the lecturers and subjects to be addressed are: Bernard Gendron (Univ. Montréal): Decomposition methods for network design Adam Ouorou (Orange Labs): Robust optimization in telecommunications Gerhard Reinelt (Univ. Heidelberg): Ordering problems Giovanni Rinaldi (IASI): Maximum weight cuts in graphs and extensions Daniele Vigo (Univ. Bologna): Solution approaches for vehicle routing problems Since the first edition in 2009, the school has been part of the activities of the CIO (Centro de Investigação Operacional) University of Lisbon as well as of the ENOG(European Network Optimization Group). The event is also endorsed by the EURO (the Association of European Societies) and APDIO (the Portuguese OR society). INFORMS Telecommunications Conference - Special issue of EJCO

As announced in the INFORMS Telecommunications Conference held in Lisbon, Portugal last March 2-4, 2014, there will be a special issue of EJCO dedicated to the conference. The topic for this special issue is "Computational Optimization Methods in Telecommunications". We invite every participant at the conference, to submit a full paper corresponding to his/her oral presentation. The deadline for the paper submission is June 30, 2014. We plan on having the review of all submitted papers by December 31, 2014. ================================================= LAST CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: 6th AIMMS/MOPTA International Optimization Modeling Competition (http://coral.ie.lehigh.edu/~mopta/competition/) ================================================= Dear Colleagues, There is still time to encourage your students to participate in the sixth AIMMS/MOPTA Optimization Modeling Competition. The competition is jointly organized by the conference organizers of MOPTA (http://coral.ie.lehigh.edu/~mopta/) and AIMMS (http://www.aimms.com). Finalists are expected to attend and present their results at the 2014 MOPTA Conference to be held August 13-15, 2014 at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, USA. Teams of at most three students can participate. The team leader has to be a graduate student, though the other members of the team can be advanced undergraduate students. Each member of the team must be registered as a full-time student at a recognized educational institution during the Spring term of the 2013-2014 academic year. Students with a background in optimization, regardless of their actual field of study, are eligible. Collaboration between students from different departments is strongly encouraged. Each team must declare a team advisor with which the team may consult about the problem and their solution. It is the team advisor’s responsibility to ensure that the students have appropriate knowledge for the competition. The team advisor should not be involved as a participant in the solution process. As the conference is international, so is the competition. Teams from all over the world can participate, as long as at least one team member can come to the conference, should the team make it to the final round. The official language of the competition is English. We cordially invite you to contribute to the fourteenth annual "Modeling and OPtimization: Theory and Applications" (MOPTA) conference, organized at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, August 13-15, 2014. MOPTA aims at bringing together a diverse group of people from both discrete and continuous optimization, working on both theoretical and applied aspects. There will be invited plenary talks from distinguished speakers as well as organized sessions and contributed talks, spread over three days. Our target is to provide a diverse set of exciting new developments from different areas of optimization research while at the same time providing a setting which will allow increased interaction among the participants. We aim to bring together researchers from both the theoretical and applied communities in the framework of a medium-scale event who do not usually have the chance to interact in larger meetings. We welcome contributed talks, and we are also very interested in hearing from people who could organize a session centered around one of their topics of expertise. MOPTA sessions have 3 speakers, with 30 mins per presentation including Q&A's. Speakers will be kindly asked to submit their abstract on the MOPTA website.
